a few words

The Chicago Bulls look pretty darn good on paper with all the offseason acquisitions.  All they need now is KG.

I got my stock exhaust system re-installed today (for a number of reasons).  Cost: $400.  If you witnessed what I went through installing the uppipe two years ago (and troubleshooting problems), you would easily fork over $400 too.  It’s ironic that although I have less hp now, the car’s actually faster.  It’s because before with my modified exhaust system, my WRX would get really loud when i revved-up so I wouldn’t step on the gas that quickly or all the way.  Now, because it’s a lot quieter, i’ll stomp on the pedal and rev the car to 700-1,000 more revolutions more than usual between shifts.  As a result, the car’s faster.  See, less is more.  I don’t think I’ll ever do any major mods again, considering that I don’t really have the luxury of time and money to spend on this type of hobby (plus it can get kinda dangerous if you don’t know what you’re doing).

Yes, I’ve been considering getting a new car, knowing fully well that right now is not the best time for me to buy one (B-school tuition, 401k, Roth IRA, Vanguard Index funds, and other investment opportunities).  I’ll be patient then and wait 3-4 years (when my WRX’s got 100k-120k miles).  My next car will most likely will be another Subaru, a Lexus IS, Audi, Saab, or VW GTI (sport).

gee… I wonder what Allan’s gonna suggest you get.

As for your WRX, you got the Sti right?

I thought WRX’s are exclusive of STI’s. STI being the more hopped up version. Contrary to cT, I would not have suggested getting the GTI, but I do say taht I love mine. I do realize that my car is not for everyone.

Anyway, while I do like the Orlando Magic pick for the obvious reasons, there has to be a point where defense is addressed in the backcourt. Who is going to guard the large offensive 2 guards (Wade, LeBron, etc.) when Jameer and Reddick are on the court together? Maybe a defensive switch of whoever is playing SF at the time would hide the deficiency temporarily.

My thoughts on Miami. I like Wade, but I can’t stand the way the game is reffed when he is in the game. Yeah, aggressive players get more calls. But in Jordan’s six finals appearances never did he ever have more shots at the line than the Whole opposition. Miami only looks like world beaters when they have the refs on their side. Otherwise they look plain. Clearly Miami was helped by the ref MOST influenced by home court fans, Bennett Salvatore. How does this guy have a job?

Anyway, http://www.82games.com has an interesting report on it. In the end you decide for yourself.

To me, the new exciting nba lost this series and the old boring nba won. The old boring nba of two superstars dominating and being helped out by refs versus the new nba of 4 ballhandlers and one big man running up and down the floor creating constant excitement. Hopefully teams decide to follow the Dallas formula in the next few years over the boring Miami formula.
